Much-needed extra seats on flights between Oulu and Helsinki as Finnair flies larger aircraft
There are no new flights on the Oulu-Helsinki route, but Finnair will increase the number of seats by using larger aircraft, especially on the most popular morning flights.
Finnair is adding seats on flights between Oulu and Helsinki. The average weekly increase in both directions is around 500 seats.
– We monitor demand closely, and some weeks there may be up to 2,000 extra seats, but at other times the number is much lower.
There are no new flights on the Oulu-Helsinki route, but there are already more seats available than before, especially on the popular morning flights. The number of aircraft can also be increased on other flights during the day,” says Jolma.
A larger machine will bring about 40 extra seats if the route is flown on a larger machine.
The ATR propellers on the route have 68 seats, while the Airbus 321 can accommodate 209 passengers. There are two other machine models between 100 and 144.

Finnair flies up to 10 back and forth a day between Oulu and Helsinki.
Extra flights or places have been needed for the Oulu -Helsinki route for about two years. Norwegian stopped Oulu flights in the fall of 2022, after which the connection has been in the hands of Finnair.
