One of Finland’s most internationally successful bands, Bomfunk MC’s ended their career in 2006, but returned to the stage in 2019 with JS16, Jaakko Salovaara (left), Raymond Ebanks and Gismo. Archive photo from 2018.

The band’s biggest hit Freestyler will be performed this summer in Helsinki, Oulu, Rovaniemi, Jämsä, Puumala, Tampere and Turku. There will also be gigs abroad.

The band will play a total of fifteen shows, about half of which will be in Finland. The domestic tour will start on 13 June in Helsinki and continue to Oulu, Rovaniemi, Jämsä, Puumala, Tampere and Turku.

It will be a cross-section of the history of electronic music from the 80s to the present day, the press release says.

– On our last tour in 2022, we discovered that there is a generation of audiences for whom Bomfunk is a “new experience.” It brings a boomerang of new energy to the stage, where we are going to enjoy every moment, Raymond Ebanks sums up.

– Freestyler is more than a word. It’s an attitude, it is freedom of expression, it is a state of being that is not always a matter of course. The song has lived its own life and is accepted differently across the world. Here it is a more successful alternative hit and in oppressed countries it can be classified as a song of freedom, Raymond Ebanks inches.

Bomfunk MC’s ended his career in 2006, but made a return in the summer of 2019. The band visited YLE in the morning of 2018 to tell about their plans.
