Lahti’s Salpauselkä Church closes due to indoor air problems
From 23 March, the church’s activities will be dispersed to temporary premises elsewhere.
The Salpausselkä Church in Lahti will be closed due to indoor air problems and operations will be dispersed to temporary premises.
For example, from next Sunday, 23 March, the services of the Salpausselkä parish will move to the chapel of the Western Cemetery.
At the same time, the start time of the service will be moved forward by an hour to 11 am.
Other weekly activities will also be moved out of Salpausselkä Church next week.
Microbial damage has been found in the structures of the church’s exterior wall and may cause air leaks indoors.
Damage was revealed when quality assurance surveys were conducted a few months ago due to previous repairs.
A few years ago, an indoor air problem was observed at the Salpausselkä Church and attempts have been made to repair it, for example, by compacting the structures.
The church has poor indoor air. Due to poor indoor air, ecclesiastical activities will be transferred to the parish homes of Jalkaranta and Metsäkangas, for example.
Some of the functions, such as the morning porridge of the deacon work and the distribution of waste food, end so far.
