Author Sirpa Kähkönen is awarded an honorary doctorate
The University of Eastern Finland will confer an honorary doctorate in social sciences on Finlandia Prize-winning author Sirpa Kähkösä at a graduation ceremony in Kuopio in June.
The University of Eastern Finland will confer an honorary doctorate in social sciences on the Finlandia Prize-winning author at a graduation ceremony in Kuopio in June.
In his works, Kähkönen depicts social and historical themes. Many of his works are set in Kuopio, and tell of the fates of civilians, women and children in times of social upheaval and crisis.
Kähkönen has won many awards in his career. In 2023, he won the Finlandia Prize for his personal work 36 Urns.
The University of Eastern Finland is inaugurated by a total of 15 honorary doctors in its doctoral proposal in Kuopio 5-7. June.
