KAJ is not the only one: these artists have represented countries other than their own at Eurovision
KAJ is by no means the only band that has chosen to represent a country other than their own at the Eurovision Song Contest. But not everyone has received such warm support from their home country.
The selection of KAJ from Ostrobothnia as Sweden’s Eurovision representative is not the only one of its kind. In fact, the list of artists who have represented a country other than their own at the Eurovision Song Contest is long.
Although the Eurovision Song Contest is known for its strict rules, the rules do not stipulate that the artist must be a national of the country they represent. However, countries set their own rules for their selection competitions.
The UMK, on the other hand, requires that at least one of the authors and main soloists must have Finnish citizenship or permanent residence in Finland.
Do you remember these cases from years ago?
After a Eurovision victory, Dion’s career went up not only in Europe but also around the world.

In the past, several different nationalities have been seen under the San Marino flag.
First, an artist born in England in 1974 represented Luxembourg with the song \”*bye, bye, I love you*\”. Next time in 1978, he represented Germany with \”*Feuer*\”. For the last time in 1985, he was again seen as a representative of Luxembourg in a six -person solo group as \”*Children, Kinder, Enfants*\”.
The band has also participated several times in the Estonian qualifiers. Vanilla Ninja is one of the most successful Estonian bands internationally.
The twins did not receive a very warm encouragement in their home country for their participation in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest instead of Norway.
According to Aftonbladet, they were even called \”treacherous\” in the media.
The twins were trying to become Swedish Eurovision Song Contest as early as 2023, but the victory was not yet released.
