The hiking trail has been requested to cross both Kvicksund and Korsbådafjärden. The route has so far been difficult to access, as private boat transport is required to reach the islands.

An electric cable car is proposed as a crossing solution for the hiking trail, crossing the Korsbådafjärden waterway. The castle, if realised, would be powered by solar panels. The plan is currently under approval by the ELY Centre and the Regional Administrative Board. The castle has been the subject of a Natura assessment and water body surveys.
The decision has taken into account marine nature, safety, maintenance possibilities, the wishes of landowners and locals, logistics, infrastructure sustainability and the project budget.
One of the cornerstones of the development project concerning the Björkö-Paniken hiking trail has been to find a solution for crossing waterways. Access to the archipelago has previously required private boat transport.
Most of the field work and installations are scheduled to be done during the spring, summer and fall of 2023. Regarding loud work, the nesting peace of the birds is respected.
The lock is acquired as a service for 3–6 years, after which the continuation of the lock can be re-evaluated based on the experience gained.
