Two men were also convicted of assault. The assault took place in the centre of Lahti in October.
Päijät-Häme District Court has sentenced a 20-year-old man to four and a half years imprisonment for attempted manslaughter.
The district court also sentenced two other young men to three-month suspended prison sentences for assault in connection with the same act of violence. The convicted men are currently aged 18 and 20.
The man convicted of attempted manslaughter will have to pay the victim more than €15 000 in damages.
According to the district court, the trio had beaten the victim by pouring it on the ground, hitting the man in the face and kicking him at least once.
In addition, a convicted man’s attempted murder had beaten the man who was violent several times around the bodies.
Based on the medical report and photos, there were at least 16 knife shocks. The victim’s injuries were possibly life -threatening.
The victim was invited to a meeting
Violence took place on Hämeenkatu, Lahti, where two of the convicted had agreed with a man who had been the subject of violence. The third convict also joined the meeting.
At the meeting, one of the men had poured the victim in the country, after which he had been violated.
According to the District Court, there may have been a former dispute behind the violence in which a man who had been victimized had threatened both the condemned and other loved ones convicted of attempted murder and their relatives. Another convicted person did not know the victim beforehand.
The district court’s judgment is not yet final, but can be appealed.
