Global warming has extended the pollen season
Global warming has lengthened the pollen season, says the Finnish Allergy, Dermatology and Asthma Association. This year, the pollen season started in January.
According to a pollen report from the University of Turku, there was also a high level of long-distance pollen from the south of Finland already in January.
In addition to the longer pollen season, there is also more pollen than before, the Allergy, Dermatology and Asthma Association tells STT.
The most important allergy sufferers in Finland are birches and grasses, whose pollen causes symptoms in 10-20% of Finns.
