Eero Järnefelt’s heir donates one million euros to Järvenpää Art Museum

Järvenpää Art Museum’s collection is made up of donations and deposits from the artists’ families.

The donor wants the art museum to move to more suitable premises. The museum is now located in the basement of the Järvenpää library.

Järvenpää Art Museum has received a one million euro donation.

Paloheimo’s donation is intended for the relocation of the art museum to more suitable premises.

Now the museum is located in the basement of Järvenpää Library. He hopes that the donation will help the art museum to become a visible and central location in Järvenpää.

– I want to highlight the vitality of the defense and cherishing of art now that museums and culture are subjected to cuts and savings, says Elisa Paloheimo in a city release.

The collection has been made up of donations and deposits from artists’ heir.

Elisa Paloheimo has played a major role in the birth and operation of the Järvenpää Art Museum.

Paloheimo donated 75 of his grandfather Eero Järnefelt’s work of art to the museum’s collections in 1997.

He has continued to raise the collection of the Järvenpää Art Museum ever with donations.

Paloheimo’s donations include Järnefelt’s Pioneer oil work from 1919, which was also on loan for the Ateneum’s major Järnefelt exhibition that closed last year.
