The Lahti Region Waste Board has decided to switch to mixed and energy waste transport, which is put out to tender by the municipality.
The Lahti region will switch to a municipal waste transport system that is put out to tender by the municipality.
On Thursday 15.12.2022, the Lahti Region Waste Board decided to abolish the current system of mixed and energy waste transport, where property owners choose the waste transport company themselves.
For mixed municipal waste, municipal waste collection will be introduced in Asikkala, Hollola, Lahti, Myrskylä, Padasjoki, Pukkila, the urban area of Heinola and Orimattila, with the exception of Artjärvi.
The waste transport organized by the owner of the property cannot continue, because according to the report of the waste management authority, the conditions of the Waste Act are not met. According to the Waste Act, the municipality must primarily organize the transport of mixed waste.
The current waste transport system will cease and waste transport organized by the municipality will start in stages between the beginning of April 2026 and the beginning of March 2027.
