The Oscars are coming up – here are our tips for watching the films

The US Film Academy has voted on the Oscars, and the results are still a week away. With nearly 10 000 voters, there’s plenty to count.

Before the Oscars are handed out on Sunday 2 March in Los Angeles, there is still time to watch the Best Picture nominees in Finland. There are ten of them, and there’s plenty to be excited about.

Anora

A screwball comedy about a young sex worker wins the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Since then, attention has turned to its rivals *Emilia Pérez and The Brutalist*.

The Brutalist

The name of the film can be combined with both architecture and human rawness. It is up to the viewer to decide which movie is all about. * The Brutalist* is probably a favorite for all art house friends, but the three and a half hour duration is pretty sure to tax viewers.

The sequels of the films have received Oscars from time to time, but they must have had to be significantly distinguished from the previous parts. Nobody wants to reward the same meter lacquer.
