An electrician from the other side of the world came to Kajaani to see how Finns spend their free time

\”I’m only getting used to, but maybe next year this will be better,\” Georges says.

Georges went to the Vuottolahti skydiving event in Kajaani because he wanted to see what Finns do in their free time. He is part of a team working for Omexom, a company that is subcontracting the construction of a new high-voltage transmission line for the grid operator Fingrid.

The site is Fingrid’s Järvilinja, which stretches from Vaala to Jorois in South Savo. The work started last year and should be completed by the end of next year.

Currently, the first phase of the lake line is under construction, where the line is currently being built between Vaala and Vuolijoki. A total of 216 high voltage poles are installed.

Happy people on the winter day on the ice of the lake.
Omexom employs around fifty people from four continents and 11 countries, including Togo, Benin, Bosnia, Peru and Spain. In the Bay of Biscay on Saturday, there were 17 of them.

\”Maybe I can’t skate them so they won’t be injured and have to get out of work on Monday,\” Martel grins.

Fortunately, there is enough experiences without skating. Georges and his co -workers are going to try reindeer and snowmobile ride, and just experiencing frost is an experience.

– For me, Finland is the first site to be frosty. Now on a day off, I don’t admit to freezing, laughs Georges.
