Tourism and restaurant services: the PAM wants to cause damage with its strike
PAM is seeking an increase of €250 in workers’ monthly salaries over two years. The two-day strike threatens ski resorts during the peak skiing holiday season.
Employers’ association Mara, the tourism and restaurant services employers’ association, has condemned the strike by PAM, the service sector trade union. PAM has declared a two-day strike for six ski resorts in northern Finland during the ski holiday week.
According to Mara, this is damaging businesses and customers.
According to Mara, ski resorts are already facing problems because of the reduction in skiing days. According to Mara, last season there was an 11% drop compared to the 2021-2022 season.
In southern and central Finland, the lack of snow and frost has also produced difficulties this season.
According to Mara, the demand for an increase is excessive
PAM demands an increase of EUR 250 for monthly wages in collective bargaining in two years. According to the membership survey, the average gross salary for the Pamis is EUR 2,224 per month.
PAM’s salary increase target for the first year is 6 %, but at least EUR 150, and 4 % for the second year, but at least EUR 100. The minimum increase in euro -denominated for low -paid wages in proportion to the higher wage increases.
According to Mara, a 10 % increase in demand is oversized.
Pam’s strike will begin on Monday, March 3 and end on Tuesday, March 4, if no reconciliation has been reached before the start of the strike.
Ski resorts also try to keep the slopes open during the strike.
