The police, Customs and the Tax Administration carried out a control raid in Rovaniemi, the first of its kind.

On Tuesday, the police, Customs and the Tax Administration carried out a control raid in Rovaniemi, where for the first time vehicles used by tourism service companies were inspected.

A total of thirteen passenger cars registered abroad and used by Finnish companies were found. According to the law, a Finnish company cannot use a foreign-registered car in its activities.

As a result of the raid, all passenger cars were de-registered and their tax-free use was prevented. As part of the crackdown on the grey economy, the Tax Administration is continuing to investigate the matter.

Police say the phenomenon has now spread to Rovaniemi

Several companies were targeted at the control strike and, according to Rytilahti, they explained, among other things, that the equipment in Finland was poorly available.

– All these so -called minibuses were found in traffic, and there were passengers on board, says Rytilahti.

According to Rytilahti, in the future, the police will also pay attention to the transport of tourists as part of regular traffic control. For a Tuesday surveillance attack, he does not promise a straight continuation.

– This is still impossible to know.

In all vehicles for inspection on Tuesday, driving and equipment were in order.

Rovaniemi has caused problems this winter, including taxi traffic, where travelers have been overcharged and wedged to the taxi stands paid in front of others.
