Two men serve more than three years in prison for aggravated rape in Lahti

Consensual sex with one man turned into rape by two men.

In late January, Päijät-Häme District Court convicted two men of aggravated rape. Both men were sentenced to three years and four months in prison.

The two men are jointly and severally liable to pay compensation of €11 550.

There was also a third man who committed a sexual act. He received a five-month suspended prison sentence and will have to pay the victim compensation of €800.

The events began in April 2023 in Lahti, when the woman had gone to the apartment with two unknown men with unknown men. The woman had been with another man in consent in sexual intercourse.

In the middle of a voluntary sexual intercourse, the man had switched to anal intercourse. The woman had denied this. However, the man had resumed an anal intercourse that the woman had not agreed.

At the same time, another man had come to have sex with the woman. The men had alternated between intercourse, even though the woman had not participated in this voluntarily. The victim was intoxicated at the time of the act.

Men convicted of aggravated rape were imprisoned in January by a district court decision. The judgment is not final. The district court’s decision may be made to appeal to the Court of Appeal.

Prisoners of gross rape have reported their dissatisfaction with the judgment.
