The City of Lahti’s Building and Environmental Permit Board will discuss the new building permit issue at its meeting today.
The development of the historic Rajanenmäki corner property area is progressing in Lahti. The Building and Environmental Permit Board is asked to approve the building permit for the new building with new specifications. The Board will discuss the permit at its meeting today, Tuesday.
JHE-Kiinteistösijoitus Oy of Lahti submitted a building permit application for a residential building to the building control in August.
Oskar’s Yard, the so-called Rajasen’s Corner property, located at the corner of Rautatienkatu and Hämeenkatu, is one of the oldest stone buildings in the centre of Lahti. During the autumn, two applications were submitted for the property, and the construction of an eight-storey residential building was the next step in the process.
The plans for the new building have been refined based on statements and feedback from the property’s neighbors and the city’s building control.
It is planned to build a two-level underground car shelter in connection with the planned apartment building in the courtyard of the property located at Rautatienkatu 18. A total of 44 apartments are coming to the building, of which there are enough new homes for about a hundred residents. The smallest apartments are 32 square meters in size, the largest 75 square meters.
Separating the new and old housing company
The residential properties will become two separate housing stock companies, i.e. the old part and the new part of the courtyard. The apartments and business premises of the hundred-year-old building will be modernized and restored, and the attic space on the fifth floor will also be converted into apartments.
According to the city of Lahti, the granting of a building permit requires the fulfillment of permit conditions regarding the location of the building, purpose of use, use of building rights and environmental effects. In addition, the southern end of the new building should be enlivened with a mural suitable for the urban environment or with an otherwise acceptable surface treatment.
A. D. Arkkitehdit Oy from Lahti is responsible for the main and architectural design of the new construction project.
