Tourism loans in Ähtäri: The council is now calling for an investigation to the police

On Monday, the Ähtäri council discussed the final report of the internal audit. The internal audit concerned the number of writings in connection with the previous year’s financial statements.

The Ähtäri City Council has decided to oblige the city government to make an investigation to the police due to the final report of the internal audit report.

The council wants to find out if there is any reason to suspect the crime.

On Monday, the council gathered at an extraordinary meeting to discuss the final report of the internal audit.

The council also decided that, in order to determine the law and appropriateness of the previous administrative procedure, a further clarification drawn up by an external legal expert be obtained.

All council groups stand behind the decisions.

The internal audit report will not become public only after the minutes have been reviewed.

Internal inspection – what was it about?

The internal audit of Ähtäri investigated the activities of officials and stewards to lend tourism companies.

Everyone began last summer at a meeting on the financial statements, which recorded EUR 7.6 million in receivables of the city’s own tourist companies.

The Ähtäri City Councilors were in charge of what the amount of the sub -written amounts consisted of and how they once decided in the confidence bodies.

The loans and other invoices granted by Ähtäri zoo companies had not been paid in long periods. The companies are now in debt restructuring.

About one million of the total amount of the imprint is receivables and the rest of the amount consists of loans issued in different years.

The issues that were reportedly reviewed were related to the loans issued before 2020, so many of the officials and delegates have already changed.

The city’s activities have already been reported last year. Ostrobothnia police are currently conducting a preliminary investigation. The pre -trial investigation has not yet begun.
