For years, the plans of the Oulu Airport Hotel received three years of overtime
The construction formula was confirmed almost six years ago. However, Korona stopped air travel and project before the hotel could be built.
Airport hotel is still being planned for the Oulu Airport.
The real estate company behind the project has received a three -year extension for construction under the land use agreement. The former agreement was coming to an end at the end of March.
The still pending hotel plan was already presented in 2016, and the first land use agreement was concluded in December 2018. The hotel planning plan has been final for soon six years.
The agreement continued as the corona pandemia took air passengers from the fields. In addition, Russia’s offensive war in Ukraine and the general economic and interest rate situations have slowed down the increase in customer numbers. Norwegian’s abandonment of Oulu route flights has also made hotel plans make it difficult.
According to the company preparing the hotel project, the number of customers has once again increased due to Lufthansa’s Munich flights. The parties of the project are now negotiating to update the contract and financing agreements, as the availability and prices of materials have changed since 2019.
About 170 rooms have been designed near the Oulu Airport.
The number of air travelers in Oulu is still far from the peak years before Korona. At that time, the annual limit of one million passengers was broken. Last year, nearly 580,000 passengers passed through the airport
