During the anniversary year, the castle hosts, for example, a historical role-playing game, an Open Stage poem and theme tours.

Olavinlinna anniversary year began with the return home of the Castle Manager’s Haarniska. Olavinlinna celebrates its 550th anniversary this year.

Haarniska has been at Sulkava Church since the funeral of the Pistolakors, until it was donated to the Finnish National Museum’s collections in 1860.

The armor of the Pistolekors is made for a horseman for battle use, but there are no traces of battle.

Eventful year

The castle anniversary year is reflected in small and major events organized throughout the year. For example, there is an immersive Lundene 1030 role-playing game that focuses on siege battles in London in the early 1000s. The game’s pre -registration is full, but it is possible to follow it in the castle during its opening hours.

The castle also celebrates the medium-themed Winter Matti Day, hears the Open Stage poetry, and a wedding and party fair. There are also dark turns for adults. They dive into the gloomy aspects of history.

– They deal with the use of a person in crisis and war situations, including torture and exploitation. The ghost stories are slightly touched, but the tour is not focused on them, says Paulasuo.
