The city of Rovaniemi will conduct a natural survey on Ounasvaara this summer.
The nature survey is part of the zoning change under preparation, which, if implemented, would allow the construction of a maximum of 75 buildings on Ounasvaara.
The hotel chain Lapland Hotels plans to build holiday buildings around an existing hotel and cottage village, which would accommodate a total of about 150 apartments around the existing hotel and cottage village.
The city is currently competing with the author for nature survey. The study is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The change in the plan will be decided by the Rovaniemi City Council.
The size of the area is 13 hectares. It is located in the vicinity of the Ounasvaarantie and Ski House. There are recreational routes in the area and is an important local destination for city dwellers.
The first two drafts of the town plan have been available. Some locals have opposed construction last summer with an address that has been handed over to the City Council, over 6,700 signatures.
