Lahti starts to make waste plastic raw material for industry-the chemical recycling plant will begin in the spring
At the forthcoming chemical recycling plant in Kujala, waste plastic is pyrolysed with plastic oil, which can replace the use of crude oil in plastic production.
In the spring, a plant will begin in Lahti, where plastic separated from mixed waste can be recycled as a raw material for the plastic industry. The plastic separated from the mixed waste is pyrolyzed into plastic oil.
Plastic oil replaces the use of crude oil in the petrochemical industry in the manufacture of plastic.
– It starts to move that the mixed waste can be separated from plastic to provide oil. Until now, it has gone to burning.
Swiss Enspa Technologies AG has acquired a 40 % stake in Finnish startup Plastec. With the help of the investment, the chemical recycling plant will rise to Kujala. Other donors of the plant are Finnvera and Helmi Savings Bank.
It is decided to place the plant in Lahti because the latch rotation can pre -treat the mixed waste.
– Mixed waste is separated from plastic and harmful components, metal and wood that cannot be brought to our processes. There is no such thing anywhere else, says CEO Kari Larjava.
According to Larjava, the plant can start its operations quickly in April.
– The plant is ready in Hamburg and is moved to Lahti. The oil tank, hall and pre -feed silos already exist. It does not take many weeks that the plant is in good working order.
Initially, the goal is to process 1,600 tonnes of plastic each year, but the amount of production can be increased. The direct employment effect of the plant is in the order of a few people. Pre -treatment and further processing bring work to some dozen people.
