Dance and Circus Hard Spring – See Turn on

The picture shows a series of shows and performance arts, where you can see dance, acrobatics and expressive choreography of hand movements.

Now if ever you should make time for dancing and the circus. A dazzlingly beautiful spring is ahead.

Dance and circus lovers have an internationally exceptionally high -quality spring. The new flamencestival will start a world star visit and the domestic circus artists who have been successful abroad will perform in Finland. Contemporary dance, in turn, sees tough class makers from the world.

In the spirit of voguing

People in the performance space, one of whom sits in a stylish and dramatic pose wearing a flashy fur coat and fishnet tights. The people around him are casually involved in the situation.
Trajall Harrell, who draws inspiration from fashion, brings his dance group to Finland.

Harrell often dresses his performers in fashion creations and is influenced by Voguing and the brazen walking style of top models on international catwalks.

The juggler cheats

A man sits on a chair, demonstrating balancing objects. The plate in the hand seems to have the head of the same artist.
Can this man be trusted? Juggler Sakari Männistö.

Männistö’s new, \”semi-biography\” work * Hypnos * is an entity where the movement of the performer and objects overlap with sound, light and visual design. It is likely that you will not yet understand at home how Männistö misled you with her tricks. He has boldly renewed the narrative of juggling.

*Hypnos,* premiere at Cirko 6.2.

Unrestrained

A character on the stage in a foggy atmosphere, dressed in a mask outfit, decorated with straw -like materials, holds an umbrella in his hand.
The werewolf goes to the doctor in the Greek \”Horror Karaka\” Euripides Laskarideis in Lapis Lazuli.

Before the work on the new building of the Espoo theater is scheduled to start (winter 2026), it’s a good time to visit the cultural center of Espoo to experience perhaps the most unrestrained performance of the spring *Lapis Lazuli*.

The beginning of the performance sounds promising: the werewolf marches to the doctor’s speech because not everything is fine.

Laskaridis combines dance, theater and visual arts without blurring, and *Lapis Lazuli *is a surreal and grotesque show.

*Lapis Lazuli*, at the Espoo Cultural Center, premiere 6.2.

Help, electricity has gone off!

A man stands in front of a stage kitchen on a theater stage, dressed in dress pants, a white collared shirt and suspenders.
Marc Gassot is a phenomenal performer. Picture of love for electricity presentation exercises.

Gassot has been trying out mimicry boundaries during his career, and his huge Side of the Mime * became a huge hit ten years ago. The proposal was forbidden for people under the age of 18.

*From love to electricity*, premiere at Kansallisteatteri 19.3.

Emergency cry from the climate

The picture shows a group of people handing their hands on the dark stage, creating an impressive and dramatic visual look.
Figures in extinction, a trilogy in the last one, deals with a human and nature unsustainable relationship.

The two-and-a-half-hour piece (with intermissions) will be performed by the London theater company Complicité led by McBurney and the Dutch Nederlands Dans Theater. The latter is one of the world’s leading contemporary dance groups, whose skills, technique and dancers make you gasp.

*Figures in Extinction*. Premiere at Tanssi talo on April 8.

Intimate with Galván

Galván is theatrical, highlighting the gesture of hand against a dark background.
Israel Galván is a great reformer of flamenco who has been swimming against the current for 20 years.

At the festival, Galván performs his stripped -off work *La Edad de Oro *, whose name refers to the golden age of Flamenco. It lasted from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, and then most of Flamenco’s well-known subspecies were born.

Galván plays with the traditions of a hundred years ago. Then the flamenco dancer appeared intimately in the midst of the audience, accompanied by a guitar and song. Estrad sees one of the most original artists in the spring.

*La Edad de Oro* In the house of the Dance 23.4.

Hypnotic going

A group modern dance performance, where dancers perform choreography on a blue stage.
Sharon Eyal trains the dancers to their physical limits.

Many ballet lovers look forward to the contemporary dance evenings of the National Ballet, and so do many dancers of the National Ballet. In modern dance, you get to show your skills that are hidden in ballet.

The National Ballet performs Eyali’s equally hypnotic piece *Half Life*.

* T (r) Anssi* in the National Ballet, premiere 11.4.

Handstand

A group of acrobats perform an impressive handstand act on an illuminated stage.
You shouldn’t try this at home. A French group of bystanders will visit Finland in May.

The current circus is an international art and many Finnish circus artists work abroad. Nevertheless, international visits have been low in Finland in recent years. Modern circus missed the Helsinki Festival program years ago.

The center of the new circus, Cirko maintains the tradition and brings to Helsinki, a French Collectif d’équilibristes circus group with members of the hand. The loneliness of practicing led them together.

No one can stand to watch just standing on their hands, so the humorous and playful work called *Ostrich Complex* has enough going and mood.
