The Ely center has supported small tourism companies and communities operating in sparsely populated areas. Grants have been given to a total of 34 projects throughout the country.

The University of Oulu’s Karttu Saalasti Institute and Kajaani University of Applied Sciences have received support from Elyskeskus for a project in which they jointly develop cooperation and networking among tourism entrepreneurs in the region.

The project called \”From the sea to dangers\” aims to support the operations of small companies employing less than ten people operating in sparsely populated areas outside the big tourist centers.

However, in terms of nature tourism, they are considered as possible future tourist destinations.

In total, around 3.4 million euros in grants have been awarded to tourism projects in sparsely populated areas throughout the country.
