The suspect has admitted in the preliminary investigation that he was guilty of some of the crimes under investigation.

The police have arrested a man in his 40s in the so-called Lahti fake nurse case.

The suspect has been able to visit the elderly by pretending to be a home care provider. During the visits, property has disappeared from the homes.

A man who previously worked in home care continued to visit elderly clients after the end of his employment in Ahtiala, Lahti.

He is suspected of having committed crimes both during the employment relationship and after it ended.

According to the police, the suspected crimes took place during 2022.

The cases are investigated under the criminal headings of aggravated theft, unauthorized practice of a healthcare profession, and payment instrument fraud, among others.

The events began to unravel when Päijät-Sote announced the suspicion and cooperation with the police a week ago.

The Lahti police are still asking for possible observations and contacts if there is a suspicion that a home care client has been the victim of a similar crime during the current year.
