One of the fears of farmers is that drink cans end up in the fields, which later get shredded in the feed and end up in the animals’ food.

MTK is concerned that northern lights tourists are damaging fields and grazing farm animals.

The Confederation of Agricultural and Forestry Producers is calling on the organisers of Northern Lights expeditions to take responsibility for land use in every right.

If the excursions are to an agricultural area, you must agree with the owner.

– Without asking permission, one has gone into the field, and there, in daylight, the landowner has found traces of littering and a campfire, says Ikonen.

No access to farmland

Everyone’s right gives the opportunity to walk, ski and cycle in forests and natural meadows without the landowner’s permission. You can collect mushrooms and berries in nature without the landowner’s permission. Everyone’s right also enables even temporary overnight stays.

Everyone’s rights do not allow movement in yards, plantations and fields in agricultural use. A prerequisite for every right is that the land owner and land use are not harmed or disturbed.

MTK reminds that even when using private roads, it is necessary to find out whether it requires a permit.

One of the fears of agricultural producers is that drink cans end up in the fields, which are later shredded into the feed and end up in the animals’ food.

– After all, it is there in the animal’s digestion and really causes dangerous situations for the animal’s health, says Ikonen.

In the past, private individuals have been disturbed by aurora borealis tourists, who have even come to the yards of their homes.
