Lapland’s tourism woes pale in comparison to Norway’s problems – tourists camping in cemeteries and defecating wherever they please
According to the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), tourists defecating in the wrong places has become a problem in northern Norway as tourism has increased.
The tourism problems that have emerged this winter in Lapland are still nothing compared to those in northern Norway.
According to the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, locals are also fed up with tourists camping wherever they please, including in cemeteries where unauthorised campers have been reported.
Problems on the table in northern Norway
According to Norwegian media, tourism is heating up in places such as Tromsø and the popular destination of Lofoten. Unlike in Lapland, the problems are particularly acute in the summer, which is the hottest tourist season in northern Norway.
However, problems have also appeared in winter. The issue has been reported by, among others, the Norwegian broadcasting company NRK.
According to Larsen, the problems have increased in recent years. The garden of Larsen’s detached house has attracted not only poopers, but also Northern Lights travelers and mountain climbers.
When Larsen put up a private property sign in his yard, the next morning the sign was covered in yellow urine.
According to NRK, the municipality of Tromssa is also aware of the growing excrement problem.
The broadcaster shared instructions on how to defecate in the bag
According to the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, last summer, hundreds of poop bags were distributed in the Lofoten Islands for trial use by tourists in order to solve the excrement problem. Norwegian Public Radio also shared instructions on how to use people’s poo bags.
The problem has been that many visitors to the Lofotodden National Park, for example, defecate in nature near the streams from which other people fill their drinking water.
Tourists climbing Norway’s mountains in pursuit of good Instagram photos have also increased the number of rescue missions, and tourists have even died.
Because of problems in Norway.
