Paris closes its last tourist information point
Paris will close its last tourist information centre and move all tourist advice online, authorities and French media said on Monday. The office, located near the Eiffel Tower, was set up in view of the Paris Olympics.
According to the Paris tourism authorities, some 50 information points will be set up in newsagents, post offices and hotels to advise tourists who are unsure. In addition, a telephone and online helpline will be opened every day to provide visitors with “personalised advice”.
According to the authorities, the distribution of tourist information “shifts human effort to where it is really needed”.
Paris is one of the most popular tourist cities in the world. An estimated 37 million tourists visit the city every year.
