Vääksy touring park grows in popularity – municipality arranges more places for caravanners

The new travel park intended for Asikkala caravanners is close-up. There are two motorhomes in the park.
In its first year of operation, Vääksy Matkapark recorded almost 1100 overnight stays, and last year the number was much higher. Photo of the travel park from August 2023.

Additional space is proposed for the mobile home park on the site of the former depot.

Asikkala plans to expand the caravan rest area in Vääksy.

Matkaparkki Karavaanari has been in operation since May 2023 and overnight stays have been increasing. By September last year, there were around 1 200 overnight stays. The caravan park has also been well received by users.

At the municipal council meeting on Monday 13 January, it will be proposed that the site of the old depot be made available as a temporary car park.

The pit area provides 7–12 additional spaces in the travel park. The park now has 20 electrified parking spaces.

The area is now marked in the plan as an area of \u200b\u200bpublic buildings, so taking it over as a travel park requires a change of purpose.

In addition, cleaning in the toilets in the canal area is intensified during the high season. The municipality would rent shower and toilet facilities for the use of caravanners in the small apartment building next to Matkaparki. Matkapark users can take a sauna on the premises for a separate fee.
