The migratory fish delegation wants to return migratory fish, such as salmon, back to water bodies.

The migratory fish delegation suggests, among other things, that the power plants that are not relevant for hydropower should be dismantled. For the remaining ones, it presents passing lanes.

The so-called migratory fish delegation is meeting today in Helsinki with MPs and other decision-makers as well as migratory fish experts. The meeting in the Small Parliament of the Parliament has started in the morning, and the program will continue until the afternoon.

The migratory fish delegation speaks for salmon and biodiversity and wants to influence the future government program. It considers that naturally increasing migratory fish stocks, such as salmon, must be returned to water bodies such as Kemi, Ii and Oulujoki. The delegation also wants to dismantle the power plants that are irrelevant for hydropower. For the remaining power plants, it proposes bypass levees that secure the ecological continuum and environmental flow.

During the day, the delegation will also meet MPs and chairmen of parliamentary groups and parties.
