Organized in various parts of Helsinki since 2009, the free light art festival Lux Helsinki will this time spread to the city center, Ruoholahti and Suvilahti areas on January 4-8, 2023.

The center’s works stretch from Kansalaistor to the Olympic Stadium. Kansalaistor is home to one of Lux Helsinki’s most massive works: the French Collectif Coin’s Abstract, which combines movement, sound and light, consists of 81 columns. The work presents a repeating loop lasting 20 minutes, which is inspired by the theory of relativity.

The Ruoholahti works run from Ruoholahdentori to Kaapelitehta. Rising to Ruoholahdentori, Growth is an interactive light installation by the Dutch Hypar Collective, where the public can follow the journey of growth by activating different elements.

The theme of Lux Helsinki 2023 is change. The program is designed so that you can tour all works in one evening if you wish.

More than half a million visitors regularly visited the festival before the corona years. In 2022, there were approximately 120,000 visitors.
