Residents are offered the opportunity to move to other rental apartments.
The rental housing company owned by the municipality of Hartola will demolish two townhouses next summer.
Renovation is not worth it, however, because the municipality’s housing population continues to decrease and more than half of the apartments in the townhouses to be demolished are empty.
There are 20 apartments in the sites and there are residents in eight of them. Termination letters have already been sent to the residents. They are offered the opportunity to move to the municipality’s rental apartments elsewhere.
A permit from the Housing Financing and Development Center ARA is still needed to demolish the properties.
Rental housing company or Koy Kuninkaanpitäjä owns about 70 rental apartments. In addition, the municipality directly owns sixty rental apartments.
In the future, other rental houses may have to be demolished if the number of residents continues to decrease, estimates CEO Raitala.
The municipality’s rental housing company last demolished its rental housing sites in the same area in the fall of last year.
