Waste management regulations are changing – separate collection of energy waste will end, the emptying interval for mixed waste will be shortened

The new waste management regulations will enter into force from the beginning of next year.

The separate collection of energy waste will gradually end in the area of \u200b\u200bthe Lahti regional waste board during the years 2023–2024. After the mandatory collection of energy waste ends, the longest emptying interval for mixed waste will be shortened to 12 weeks.

From July 2024, separate sorting of bio-waste will also be mandatory for smaller residential properties in the central areas of Lahti, Hollola and Heinola.

At the same time, managing the transportation of separate collection of biowaste will be transferred to Salpakierto Oy throughout the business area.

The Lahti regional waste board decided on new waste management regulations at its Tuesday meeting.

In addition to Lahti, the board’s jurisdiction includes Asikkala, Heinola, Hollola, Kärkölä, Myrskylä, Orimattila, Padasjoki and Pukkila.
