The Ultra X Finland trail run would be organized in Finland for the first time in the spring of 2024.
Lahti is ready to financially support the organization of a large trail running event in the city.
The Vitality and Employment Division has granted an annual grant of 15,000 euros for three years for the organization of the event. The Ultra X Finland trail running event is scheduled to be held for the first time in May 2024.
The organizers of the competition applied for significantly larger grant amounts, around 40,000–50,000 euros annually.
In the two-day trail running event, the total distance covered is 110 kilometers. The start and finish are in Lahti.
For the first year, 400 runners and three times as many spectators are expected for the event. In later events, there should be double or triple the number of participants.
The regional economic effects are calculated to rise to 240,000 euros when visitors stay in the area for four days and spend approximately 150 euros per person every day.
The trail running event in question has not been run in Finland before, although the World Ultra Corporation has organized ultra running events in different parts of the world.
