The Snow Queen ice ballet, to be premiered at the end of the year, is heading from Tampere to the world.
The plans are far from modest.
The Snow Queen ice ballet, to be premiered at the end of the year, will be a global star from Tampere.
Ice ballet has been in the public eye so far mainly because of its well-known performers. The world conquest has received less attention.
The production now says that it has gained significant international partners and has aroused widespread interest in Europe.
Top agent negotiating
The production needs funding for the tour and international partners to share the risk.
– The Snow Queen is one of the most ambitious projects I have encountered in my career.
Baskerville estimates that the piece has great potential for an international tour.
– Finnishness is trendy in the world, and the themes of helping the weaker, which reflect the work’s Nordic value base, are more topical than ever. We have had very promising discussions with the biggest arenas in Great Britain and Europe, Baskerville says in the press release.
A total of 490 people have worked in production for five years already. Millions of money have been burned. Paulina Ahokas calls the working group a dream team, because it includes Finnish and foreign top players.
If funding is arranged, the performances will be taken abroad. According to Ahokka, there is a market niche for this.
– The world loves ice shows, but there are very few of them. Finland is the most credible country in the world to build this, because we are one of the best in the world in ice hockey and the best in formation skating.
Moved because of the interest rate
The premiere was supposed to be at the beginning of the year. Due to Corona, large-scale production was moved to the end of December. Ice ballet has been worked on since 2019.
The Snow Queen ice ballet, produced by Tampere Hall and Kantelinen Company, will have its world premiere at the Tampere Arena on Friday, December 30, 2022.
The Snow Queen ice ballet will be performed at the Tampere arena for five acts at the turn of next year.
*More on that soon*.
