Salon Teatteri moves to the Kiva Cultural Centre – the move will affect the choice of programme

The word Kiva can be seen on the roof of the White House. There is also a sign in the tree next to it that says Kiva.
The Kiva House of Culture will become the new home of the Salo Theatre.

The Kiva theatre will have a larger auditorium, but the use of the stage will change compared to before. Future programming will have to be carefully considered.

Salon Teatteri moves its theatre operations to the Kiva cultural centre in the centre of Salo.

The theatre will have to move out of its current premises on Mariankatu due to indoor air problems and the inoperability of the premises.

Ticket sales and the theatre office will move to the former café Ihme and Kumma on Annankatu. Small-scale cultural events will also be organised in the Annankatu premises. The costume shop will find a new home in the Näkkär premises on Ylhäistenti.

Salon Teatteri will leave Mariankatu at the turn of the year. The theater has operated in the same premises since 1981. The facilities are owned by the city of Salo.

Involving tours in the action

The theater has to think even more carefully about its program, because Kiva has a different auditorium compared to the previous premises.

– We won’t compromise on the visuals at all, but of course the software will be chosen in the future according to what suits the new stage. In our operations, we are investing even more in tours, that is, we go where the people are, says Kuisma.

The premises on Mariankatu can accommodate around 150 spectators. Kiva’s two floors have space for 360 people. At the same time, accessibility improves. The facilities on Mariankatu have been missing, among other things, a disabled toilet.

Kulttuuritalo Kiva will continue its own event production despite the theater change.
