On Monday 14 November, the City Council will discuss a EUR 1.25 million grant to KOKO Lahti.
The City of Lahti will secure the cultural activities of the events company KOKO Lahti with a major grant. A grant of €1.25 million to KOKO Lahti will be proposed to the City Council. The grant would ensure the continuity of cultural activities.
The grant is justified by the fact that the interest rate years have reduced the number of cultural events and audiences to a quarter of the normal level.
This year, KOKO Lahti has organised around 80 events for more than 40 000 visitors at the Sibelius Hall. Three years ago, the programme included well over a hundred events, with twice as many visitors as this year.
KOKO Lahti will also receive EUR 900,000 in rent support from the city this year. However, the event hall has proposed to the city an increase in rent and production support. The company pays approximately EUR 1.6 million in rent to the city for the Sibelius Hall during the current year.
